Project Overview

Finicity’s open banking platform improves how financial institutions leverage consumer-permissioned data to create innovative digital experiences. My work at Finicity focused on creating intuitive interfaces that make financial data connectivity accessible and understandable. I collaborated with development and product teams to reimagine how complex financial data flows are visualized and presented to different user groups – from financial institutions and fintech developers to end consumers. My design approach balanced strict security and compliance requirements throughout my processes with engaging user experiences.

My Role

This specific project shown here is redesigning the Finicity web page during my time there. As Senior UX/UI Designer, I led and designed the corporate website, creating unified digital experiences across 25+ pages while ensuring optimal user flows between sections.

Design Interventions

I have included some of the design artifacts I was involved with at Finicity. While I worked on many projects, I have highlighted projects that give a window into my contributions: the information architecture redesign, component-based design system development, and the responsive implementation across devices. Within the first three months after launch, we observed a 35% increase in overall site engagement. The redesigned developer resources section saw improvements, with a 25% increase in API documentation engagement. The redesigned website became a crucial touchpoint in Finicity’s brand perception, helping position the company as a leader in open banking technology, focusing on user experience. The UI design system we developed for the website became the foundation for broader design standardization across Finicity’s product portfolio, creating cohesion between marketing materials and actual user interfaces.

Reflections & Impact

My role at Finicity as Senior designer in the only design team of four helped improve the banking experience design for complex financial data connectivity for many financial institutions, enabling 22+ million users to navigate open banking solutions confidently. Designing the early years of the user experience design established new standards for presenting financial connectivity and data security, ultimately contributing to Finicity’s strategic positioning, leading to Mastercard’s $825 million acquisition in 2020.
